 My name is Jay Goyal, and I am serving as your State Representative in the 73rd District. As a lifelong resident of Richland County, I am uniquely aware of the many assets that our community has to offer. I have been working hard in Columbus to show these many qualities to the rest of the State, and ensure that Richland County's best interests are being represented. As the vice-president of a manufacturing company in Richland County, I will apply my real-world experience as State Representative. I have watched how business-as-usual takes place in Columbus and I know that you can't break even by decreasing income, increasing debt and mismanaging assets. It is responsible governance that creates the opportunity for business growth. Since being sworn into office in January 2007, I have co-sponsored a wide variety of legislation that helps supports families, to protect farmers and their land, and recognizes the many individuals that help to make our community, state and country great. My work in Columbus has been challenging, but I feel that it is vital to maintaining a vibrant community here at home. While here, I was part of a historical effort to pass the budget, helped to lower property taxes for our communities most vulnerable, and ensured that higher education tuition rates were frozen. But my time in Columbus has also shown me that there is much more work still to be done. I will continue to look for alternative ways to fund our schools and increase healthcare coverage for children and the elderly. If I can ever be of any help, please do not hesitate to contact me.
